Reliability and Optimization of Structural Systems
September 19-20, 2022

Welcome to IFIP 2022

Conference Summary

The 20th working conference of the IFIP Working Group 7.5 on Reliability and Optimization of Structural Systems (IFIP 2022) will be held at Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, September 19-20, 2022.

WG 7.5 is one of the working groups under Technical Committee 7 on “System Modeling and Optimization” of the International Federation for Information Processing. The purpose of the WG 7.5 is to promote modern structural system reliability and optimization of structures under uncertainties, to stimulate research, development and applications of structural system reliability and optimization, to foster the dissemination and exchange of information and to encourage education on those subjects.

Specific topics of this working conference include, but are not limited to:

  • Reliability analysis of structural and infrastructure systems
  • Optimization of structural systems
  • Reliability-based design optimization
  • Life-cycle reliability and optimization
  • Modeling of damage accumulation, structural health monitoring and inspection
  • Reliability of special structures: bridges, wind turbines, offshore structures, nuclear power plants, space structures, etc.
  • Infrastructure risk assessment and management
  • Engineering risk analysis and decision under uncertainty

Attendance at IFIP WG7.5 Working Conferences is by invitation. Individuals who are not members of the Working Group may be invited upon recommendation of one of the group members, approved by the Scientific Committee. Please contact one of the Working Group members or the Chairs of the conference if you wish to be considered for an invitation.

Kyoto is famous for is sakura (cherry blossom) and momiji (fall foliage / red leaves) season.

The cherry blossom season begins at the end of March every year and reaches its full bloom at the during early April. Lovely spring days are filled with fragrance. With a bit of luck that it doesn't rain the whole week, the Sakura-fubuki will be your most unforgettable memory in Kyoto.

After the hot and humid summer, the weather becomes cool and comfortable in mid to late November. As autumn deepens and the streets turn scarlet, you can see beautiful autumn leaves everywhere in Kyoto.
